Keweenaw Bottomland Preserve - (103 square miles)

Mesquite-Advanced - Location: Keystone Bay
The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Mesquite ran aground in the fall of 1989 off the Keweenaw Peninsula. The ship was intentionally sunk in about 110 ft. of water. The wreck is in excellent condition with virtually all of her equipment on deck.
Interior exploration should be reserved for very experienced divers with proper equipment. Visibility at this site 50 ft.
Sawtooth Reef-Basic - Location: Eagle River
This site holds the remains of four ships:
-Pickards, a 233 ft. wooden steamer
-Colorado, a 255 ft. wooden steamer
-Fern, a 65 ft. tug
-Tioga, a 286 ft. iron freighter
The reef is in 35 ft. of water
City of St. Joseph-Basic - Location: Eagle Harbor
This 254 foot steel barge ran aground North of Eagle Harbor in 1942. The remains of the shop lies in 40 ft. of water or less. Divers will find large sections of the hull, machinery, and other artifacts that make for excellent exploration and backdrops for underwater photography.

NAUI Certified Instructor- Gerald "Jake" Anderson

- 2 hour water time in Lake Superior
