The Village of Alanson is located 10 miles north of Petoskey on U.S. 31 and M-68 in Emmett County. Located near the picturesque Crooked River, which is part of the historic Inland Waterway, and easily accessible by boat, this charming area is a popular destination for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. There are canoe and kayak rentals available locally.
Known as "a Place to Enjoy... a Place to Remember," the downtown area is home to many shops and services including antiques, flowers, bakeries, restaurants, hotels, and a hardware store that is a historical landmark. Surrounded by the Mackinaw State Forest and only minutes to Lake Michigan, Alanson is is a beautiful place to relax and vacation. The Village of Alanson maintains the same character and beauty as when it was first settled in 1875 and later incorporated in 1905 during the great Michigan lumber boom.
