Video Tour of Mackinac Island, Michigan
Experience the incredible attractions at one of Michigan's top tourist destinations, Mackinac Island. Where no motor vehicles are allowed and horses and bicycles are the main form of transportation.
As one of the largest tourist attractions in Michigan, Mackinac Island offers a variety of attractions and activities for family members and friends of all ages. Start off with the National Historic Landmark Fort Mackinac overlooking the harbor offering a beautiful panoramic view of island landscape. Fort Mackinac is Michigan's only Revolutionary War Fort, carefully restored with fourteen original buildings.
Paid admission will include live programs such as musket and cannon firings, military music demonstrations and even a court martial trial. When you are done at the fort hop on the nearest bike or horse buggy for a trip around the island's 8-mile perimeter. This easy and beautiful ride will showcase all of the island's sights and structural design including Skull Cave, the British Landing and Arch Rock. Be sure to stop in at the Butterfly house featuring hundreds of butterflies from all over the world and the Grand Hotel, which redefines elegance and charm through an era of dining and chamber music not seen since the late nineteenth century.
After that ride you will be looking for a little refreshment, but we wouldn't want you to look too hard. That is why Mackinac Island offers a variety of Restaurants with completely diverse menus such as the Pink Pony or the Mackinac Tea Room. Now that you are feeling refreshed its time to hit the stores and gather your share of mementos as you shop to your heart's desire with the enormous amount of specialty shops lining the downtown area. You will find all sorts of trinkets and exclusive items waiting for you on a truly unique shopping experience through Mackinac Island's busy avenue. If shopping doesn't appeal to the entire family then maybe dad can sneak off and get in nine holes on the Wawashkamo golf course or either of Mackinac Island's other two golf courses. Wawashkamo is also the longest operating nine-hole golfing facility in all of Michigan.
It's now time to take your packages and head for home with the comfort and safety of the Star Line offering the newest hydro jet ferries allowing you to “high tail” it over to the island. For more information on tickets and prices visit them on their website at http://www.mackinacferry.com/
