Mullett Lake Information & Overview
Mullett Lake is a civil township of Cheboygan County situated on the northwest shore of the lake by the same name. Mullett Lake is conveniently located about 6 miles southwest of Cheboygan.
The Lake
The 5th largest inland lake in the State of Michigan, Mullett Lake spans nearly 11 miles from southern to northern tip, and is nearly 17 miles around. Many people launch boats in the Cheboygan River, which flows out of the northeast end of the lake, and then enjoy a pleasant, tranquil boat ride up the river to Mullet Lake.
As part of the massive Inland Waterway, major inflows to the lake are the Indian River (which connects with nearby Sturgeon River), Burt Lake, Pigeon River, Little Pigeon River and Mullett Creek. The Inland Waterway was originally an ancient Native American trade route that was later opened to early small steamer boats and now today, modern recreational traffic. As a large lake, jet skis, water skiers, and fishermen all share the huge body of water.

Visitors love fishing at Mullett Lake, which hosts populations of more than a dozen game species, including:

- yellow perch
- walleye
- smallmouth bass & largemouth bass
- lake sturgeon (the state record sturgeon was caught in Mullett Lake)
