Step back in time to the 1882 logging industry in Upper Michigan. See where the first precision manufactured tongue and grooved hardwood flooring was produced that made Hermansville known world wide.
When you visit our museum, you will feel as though the employees just stepped out of their offices for the day. Office Machines are still in place, invoices dating to 1882 fill the file cabinets, pay books are available to look at, and the furnished family living quarters occupy the second floor.
The IXL Museum received a grant from the State of Michigan to restore the beautiful ceiling in the living quarters.
A "Company House" is situated on the IXL property. Visit this small house and see how a family of ten lived there.
The Farm Produce Warehouse is the oldest building in Hermansville and dates back to 1882.
A restored depot building and caboose are also on the property. The Chicago and Northwestern and Soo Line Railroads served the community.
