Mission Point is a beautiful place to host a wedding but there are several things you should be aware of. First, the wedding planners are very helpful and hands on until you hit the island. Once your there it was clearly made that we were bugging the wedding coordinator and were very annoyed with us. The wait staff setting up the banquet room were amazing and the food was fantastic. Second, do not waste your time or money on gift bags for your guest. We talked to the front desk 6 different times because they were not passing out the bags to the guest. We finally gave up collected the bags back and handed them out ourselves. Third, do not count on the "upper" staff to be honest and follow through for you. It was extremely important to us to see the wedding party ride by downtown in their carriage. We went to the front desk and ordered what we thought was a buggy to take us downtown to see them. Apparently there is a BIG difference between a taxi and a carriage which when we told the front desk what we wanted they ordered a taxi for uwealth out telling us we had to meet the taxi at an exact time and place, We missed the very important and special opportunity. Fifth, bring your own security! We were told we could set up the reception room the night before the wedding by the wedding planner, several items were taken from the room. The planners response was "I didn't tell you it was secure" but yet watch us set up hundreds of dollars in decorations. Several other wait staff will tell you it's secured but Mission Point does not lock ANY of the common areas. Sixth, Do not waste your money on candles for the cocktail hour, the staff,will not light them telling us after we were there that they will not stay lit. Sevent, there is NO air conditioning at all in the hotel. We were told there is in the reception room, which there is but its so outdated it can not keep the large room cool. Eighth, several of our guest had to change rooms and we even had a guest that had their room double book and had a guest walk in on them at 2 a.m.!

Downtown DJ which we brought ourselves, and Island Photography saved the day for us! If you want to get married on Mackinac Island, look at venues other than Mission Point.
