Onaway Courthouse - Visit our 1909 courthouse, named to the State Register of Historic Sites in 1978 and to the National Register in 1980, our beautifully restored courthouse is the home of the Onaway Historic Museum, Onaway Branch Library and the Chamber of Commerce.

Ocqueoc Falls - Ocqueoc Falls means "Sacred" in American Indian. The largest waterfall in lower Michigan is located on Ocqueoc Falls Road off M-68, ten miles east of town. If offers two falls, upper and lower, about 300 feet apart. It is abundant in steelhead. One of the few rivers in Michigan that flows south to north, the Ocqueoc River offers three, four and six and a half miles of scenic hiking trails and cross country winter trails. Rustic camping is available.

Golf - The Onaway Area offers various challenging 18-hole golf courses and a par-3 course for those who desire a shorter time to golf. Stoney Links Golf Course is one of the finest & most challenging public 18 hole golf courses in Northeast Michigan. Set in the woods of Northern Michigan, the course winds through the north woods, crossing streams and curving around ponds. For more information, contact Stoney Links at 989-733-2683.

Deer & Elk Viewing - As you take a drive throughout the countryside of Onaway, you will often see deer. The Pigeon River State Forest is considered home grounds for the elk. You might see them in and around other areas. But, early morning or evening is the time to look for them.

Fishing & Hunting - Brook trout are abundant in our many trout streams. Parts of the Black River, Canada Creek and nearby Pigeon River are designated as Blue Ribbon Trout Streams by the MDNR. Also, area inland lakes offer a wide variety of fishing opportunities both from shore and from a boat. Perch, bluegill, walleye, splake, & bass are abundant in our many lakes. In addition to most of the species already mentioned, muskie & sturgeon (in season) are found in Black Lake. The 258,000-acre Mackinaw State Forest surrounds the Onaway Area, offering a wide range of hunting opportunities. Deer, elk, bear, grouse, turkey, bobcat, coyote as well as other common small game call the Mackinaw State Forest home and are regularly taken by area hunters.

Iron Sculptures - Moran Iron Works of Onaway, owned by local businessman, Tom Moran, presents a total surprise each 4th of July of the most fantastic sculptures. His sculptures can be viewed around Onaway, northeast Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Also, sponsored by Moran Iron Works around the first week in December, are beautiful fireworks and a huge bonfire. Santa pays a visit, and ther eis plenty of hot chocolate and candy for the children.

Knaebe’s Mmmunchy Krunchy Apple Farm & Cider Mill - This small "mom and pop" (13 acres of dwarf trees) apple farm is located just east of Onaway. Pa grows 32 varieties of apples, from the popular Honeycrisp, to antique varieties such as Pippins, Wolf River, and Wealthy. Ma and the Bakeshop Grannies use the apples to make fresh "from scratch" apple pies, apple crisp and caramel apples. The Upside Down Sticky Pecan Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Stuffing and Giant Molasses Cookies are famous with the locals, and the apple cider and pumpkin donuts are "musts" with Pa’s Fresh Cider pressed most Saturday mornings during season. The farm is not U-pick; the apples are piled in an eclectic old barn (circa 1920), and folks can bag their own while ogling Pa’s fleet of WW II model airplanes and Ma’s old apron collection. There is a General Store with kitchenware, aprons, a wall of cookie cutters, toys for kids, candles and fall décor. The Homemade Apple Butter is made on the farm, and there is a wide variety of jams, honey, local maple syrup, squash and pumpkins. There is a small farm animal zoo for kids to visit, a playground and picnic tables. There are pony rides and horse drawn wagon rides weekends in Sept. and Oct., weather permitting. Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum - Located in Rogers City, this museum contains artifacts and memories of the Great Lakes maritime industry and celebrates the lives of those who served in the Great Lakes Shipping Industry. Among the exhibits are ship models, drawing, historical photographs. Read and hear accounts of the loss of the Cedarville and the Carl D. Bradley where many men from Rogers City lost their lives.
